Ornithology Jazz Club & Cafe Ornithology — Bushwick, NYC

Roof-Top Patio

  • Oversaw design and construction of 200 sq. ft. covered roof-top patio for Ornithology Jazz Club in under two months

  • Weather-tempered wood and corrugated plastic roofing allowed for improved patron experience and increased sales during inclement weather

Cafe Ornithology

  • Oversaw design, demolition, and construction of 1,400 sq. ft. space - including dining area, stage, kitchen, and bathroom - within 3 months

  • Drafted schematic designs and construction documents

  • Managed team of five carpenters to remove existing structures, repair flooring and walls, and build a new interior, including bar, wrap-around counter space, tables, and floating vinyl shelving

  • Furnished, sound proofed, and handled lighting design post-construction

  • Grew a local watering hole to world-renowned jazz venue and ”top 15 best jazz bars in NYC,” according to The Infatuation, under NYC jazz-scene leaders Mitchell Borden & Rie Yamaguchi-Borden 

  • Established Cafe Ornithology in 2023, an addition to Ornithology Jazz Club, from inception to opening in order to foster greater space for musicians and diversify company revenue streams

  • Simultaneously led 30+ staff members in front and back-of house between both properties

  • Oversaw menu, pricing, inventory, payroll, scheduling, cleaning, and staffing
